The event will highlight available routes into the many, varied roles within social care, including nursing and connection and pathway from social care support worker roles into registrant nursing education.
The event is open to anyone to attend who may be interested in learning more about careers and study opportunities within social care.
Whether you're currently studying and considering a career in the social services sector, already working in the field and looking to upskill or advance your career or have no prior experience but are interested in exploring opportunities in social care, this event is for you!
Join us to discover pathways, gain insights, and take the next step in your social care journey.
Event agenda
10.00am to 12 noon – Career insight sessions including:
- Looking at the different social care settings and roles you could work in
- Hear from people working in the care sector, their career journeys and the qualifications they needed to undertake their roles
- Different routes into Nursing within Social Care and hear from recent student nurses on their experiences of Social Care Nursing
- Try out our immersive social care experiences with our virtual reality headsets
12 noon to 2.30pm – Social Services Exhibition
- Meet social services employers from adult social care to explore jobs and future career opportunities
- Talk to representatives from regulatory organisations such as Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) and Care Inspectorate
- Speak to UHI staff about Social Care course options including childcare & apprenticeships
- Find out information on the BSc Nursing programmes in Highland which offer placements and further opportunities within social care settings
- Network with employers and UHI on access to SVQs, placements and learning and developments options
2.00 to 3.00pm – Catering in Social Care
- Join us in the Sheiling Restaurant to see samples of food and nutrition that can be adapted to meet specialist dietary requirements, and hear from industry experts how challenging but incredibly rewarding Social Care Cheffing is, highlighting career opportunities within catering in Social Care
